Scenic Graphic Design
To create the scenic centerpiece of this production of Evita, the theatrical design team contracted me to develop the graphic design for various painted & printed elements of the scenery.
The Eva Mural
Inspired by multiple depictions of Eva Perón throughout history, from official portraits to street art, I created the framework for this mural, which combines aesthetics of illustration and graffiti.
The Historical Portraits
These portraits were meant to reflect the aesthetic of the Eva Mural, while leveraging a single-color accent and high saturation to achieve an almost cartoonish effect.
Inspiration Images
The production design team drew from historical images, conceptual illustrations, and contemporary street art installations to guide my initial designs of the Eva mural and historical portraits.
Process Photos
Using a vector file with delineations for the functional scenic elements (archways, door breaks, wall borders), a painter recreated the graphic design by hand to bring the mural to life.
